YANGAN: Turkey has become the first country to send 1000 tonnes of relief material to Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine state of Myanmar. A ship containing humanitarian aid arrived here on thursday. Turkish Co-operation and Co-ordination Agency sent this aid, which was hand over to the social service ministry, Rakhine state.
Sources from President’s Office in Turkey said that this relief material has been sent after President Erodgan had a direct talk with Myanmar State Councilor Aung San Suu Kyi over the plight of Rohingya Muslims recently.
Sources also said that as the result of this talk, permission in writing was granted by the Myanmar authorities to the TCCA to send relief material. Therefore 1000 tonnes of relief material which consisted of clothing, dry fish, dry food, milk powder etc was sent by ship.
A ceremony was held in Rakhine state in which Turkish officials and social workers, who brought relief material by ship, handed over these to the officials of Social Service Ministry. The relief material will be distributed by state officials as the situation in Rakhine state still remains sensitive.
Military helicopters will distribute this material in coordination with state officers. The ministry official said that situation in the region remains uncertain and security concerns continue. It must also be known that Turkish Government also sent relief material for Gaza, Somalia and other Muslims in their need.
In another news , it is said that first lady of Turkey will visit Bangladesh to meet refugees from Myanmar who had to flee from their home land after Myanmar army attacked their villages. First Lady of Turkey, wife of President Erodgan want to hear the plight of Rohingya Muslims personally.
Sources in the President office told media that as the Chairman of Islamic Co-operation Council (ICO) President Erodgan is talking to many heads and leaders of Islamic nations over the plight of Rohingya Muslims.
