MUMBAI : Controversial film Padmavat was released today in Mumbai under heavy police security .In many theatres which are exhibiting the film , elaborate police arrangements have been done.In neighbouring city Thane also , police made heavy security measure in and around all Cinemas and multiplexes which are showing film Padmavat .
At many theatres the ticket bookings for the first day was 60 to 65 % , the sources said .It is said that if no untoward incident happens today , the public rush at the theatres showing film Padmavati will pick up .
Many theatres priced the ticket at Rs.250=00 and there are rumours that these will rise up-to Rs.1000 if peace is maintained .Many film goers are congratulating Mumbai and Thane police for maintaining law and order on the first day of release of the film .
However in some areas of Maharashtra, the report of violence is trickling in .A report from Ichalkaranji said that the film show in Radha Krishna theatre was cancelled after violent protests.
According to a report the theatre owners said that film Padmavat had 60 % response in Delhi morning 9 am show while in Mumbai the response in first show was 40 to 45 %.
The theatre owners expressed satisfaction over the response the film is generating from the public. Sources in Mumbai said that the response to the film is picking up .The police sources said that the security arrangements deployed at the theatres are elaborate .
The city police has already made heavy security arrangements in view of Republic Day celebrations in the city .The police sources indicated that some leaders and workers of Karni Sena will be detained as preventive measure if the situation required.Many Cinema theatres did not put up the posters and hoardings of film Padmavat outside , as a precautionary measure but they continued with the shows of the film .
