MUMBAI ON A BUDGET: Kam Kharcha Zyaada Jugaad

There’s one thing in Mumbai that always keeps trending, “Jugaad”.  People here hold more belief in others than in themselves. It comes to me as a surprise when someone calls the city “not-affordable”. From the many options available, I wonder if they’re not using them wisely or they’re just in need of a little reminder.

Here’s a list of Jugaads, as every Mumbaikar would call it, to make your life in the city a lot more better and affordable (excuse the pun)

1. Skip the cabs, hop on the trains

What sounds like a better plan? Waiting for hours in the traffic and worrying every minute as the meter goes up or reaching your desired place on an estimated time on a fixed budget?

The latter one for sure if you have the right set of brains.

2. Eat what you can afford

Why go for an overly expensive meal that’ll leave you hungry again in two hours while you can hog on some of the healthy street food until your stomach pleads to stop?

Mumbai has a long list of options when it comes to variety and low costing. You just need to get your research done right.

3. Mall over Crawford? Nah

Malls no doubt can be completely abandoned. But what about the cheap substitutes that Mumbai has to keep your wallet intact?

Switch to places like Dadar, Andheri,Colaba, Crawford Market, Borivali, Kurla, and Thane and you’ll be dumbfounded with things even malls couldn’t provide.

4. Five star view, at zero cost

Who said your weekends are a waste if you don’t eat expensive food or go clubbing at posh places?

It’s time you slam a tape across all those lousy ideologies.

Try sitting around the ever so glorious marine drive with your favorite company of friends and complain about the day not going so well.

After all, isn’t it all about finding the right things at the right place?
