NEW DELHI: Malegaon Bomb Blast case accused Lt. Col. Purohit, who got interim bail from Supreme Court, planned to form a Hindu Nationalist Government in exile with the help of Israel and Thailand, the prosecution alleged.
According to NIA, Lt.Col. Purohit held meetings of a fanatic organization ‘Abhinav Bharat’ in Faridabad on January 25-26 in 2008,where the formation of Hindu Rashtra was discussed. He sought support of Israel as well as Thailand to form a Hindu Rashtravadi Government in exile, the NIA alleged.
Lt. Col Purohit also read out the constitution of ‘Hindu Rashtra’ government in exile in these meetings. He assured the participants that he was given assurances of help from Israel.
Congress leader Digvijay Singh said that BJP government is protecting all RSS connected accused in bomb blast cases and he is not surprised when an accused Lt. Col. Purohit got bail from the court.
In Supreme Court, senior lawyer Harish Salve appearing for the accused said that the accused do not want discharge from the case. However, in the interest of justice, he asked for an interim bail. NIA opposed the bail, which was earlier rejected by Bombay High court. NIA said in the court that charges against Lt.Col Purohit were of a grave nature.
In Bombay High court, NIA did not oppose the bail application of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur while they opposed it in case of Lt.Col Purohit, stating there is ample evidence against Lt. Col. Purohit, but not against Sadhvi. Meanwhile both are accused in the same case.
Bombay High Court then, granted bail to Sadhvi and denied bail to Purohit, who appealed in Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court’s order. Today, SC set aside the Bombay High Court order and granted Purohit bail.
NIA alleged that Lt. Col. Purohit hid his identity as a military officer. However the accused says that he penetrated Abhinav Bharat cadre, as a part of military intelligence operation. He claimed that he kept his army bosses in the loop and records were maintained by army officials.
