We often have heard about New Year’s Resolution but we fail to prepare our Ramadan’s Resolution. Ramadan’s Resolution is necessary to spend a Holy Month in a better way. As the Holy month of Ramadan is approaching have we prepared anything for the month about which Allah (Subhanwa Ta’ala) Says:
“Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain Taqwaa.” – Quran (Chapter 2 Verse 183)
From the above verse it is clear that the objective of the approaching Holy Month is to attain Taqwaa (Piousness and God Consciousness). But how can we attain it, if we don’t plan for it accordingly?
Below are the 10 must have Ramadan’s Resolution Points.
1) To pray every Fardh Salah in congregation (Jama’at)
The Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “A Salah with Jama’at is twenty seven times greater than Salah prayed alone.” – [Reference: Al Bukhari]
Also the reward for every deed is multiplied in Ramadan month. So we should try our best to perform every Salah in Congregation.
2) At least read 3 verses of Quran with Tafsir every day
Take some time around 15 – 20 minutes every day to understand, what message the Almighty Allah has for us.
3) To gain basic obligatory knowledge every day
The Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “Seeking Knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim” – [Reference- Al Bayhaqi and Al Tabrani]
One of the key elements of being good Muslims is the attainment of knowledge and knowledge can only come through learning. So we, as Muslims, should always be willing to learn if we are to find out what Allah asks of us and what the purpose of our existence is.
4) Protecting our Gaze every moment of time
It is said that Gaze is a door to your Heart, so the first step towards purifying a heart is to purify our Gaze.
Also Gaze isn’t to be protected just when out on the streets. This ‘social interactive website’ that we use every day is more dangerous for our Imaan than what we see in real life.
5) To Use Miswak before every Salah
Miswak is a means to please Allah and is a Great Sunnah a Muslim should follow.
Also Salah offered after one has used a Miswak is 70 times superior to the Salah offered without it.
6) To give Charity (A Sadqah) excluding Zakaat
Everything has a key and the key to Sustenance is Charity – Imam Jaffer Sadiq (Radi Allahu Anhu)
Charity increases Sustenance and Protects Wealth. So, we should at least try to give some amount as a Sadqah even if it is a single penny.
7) To Recite Surah Al Kahf every Friday
The Surah Al Kahf is very virtous Surah of the Holy Quran. Recitation of Surah Al Kahf will save one from the fitna of Dajjal (Anti Christ).
The Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) Said: “Whoever reads Surah Al Kahf on Friday, he will be illuminated with light between the two Fridays.” [Reference- Al Bukhari and Muslim]
Also the Prophet (Peace be upon him) Said: “Whoever memorizes 10 Ayahs from the beginning of the Surah Al Kahf will be protected from Dajjal.” [Reference- Muslim, Abu Dawood, An Nasai and At Tirmidhi]
So we should follow this beautiful sunnah and in case if its not possible for us to recite whole surah then at least we should recite the first 10 Ayahs. So as the Ramadan ends, the 10 Ayahs will be memorised Insha Allah!
8) To Wake Up for every Suhoor
We should always try to wake up for every suhoor.
As the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) Said: “Eat Suhoor, Indeed there is a Blessing in Suhoor” – [Reference- Al Bukhari and Muslim]
Also He (Peace be upon him) mentioned that: “The distinction between our fasting and fasting of the people of book (Jews and Christians) is the taking of Suhoor- [Reference- Muslim]
So to gain blessings and to be healthy we should wake up to eat Suhoor before every fast.
9) Try to Pray Tahajjud Everyday
It’s not an obligatory Salah but it’s a very good deed to get close to Allah (Subhanawa Ta’ala). Tahajjud is very special prayer and has very high standard.
We all know that it is quite difficult to wake up for Tahajjud but in the month of Ramadan Suhoor is the time of Tahajjud Salah. So as soon as we wake up for Suhoor, pray at least 2 rakahs of Tahajjud.
10) Do Dua everyday sincerely after Tahajjud and before iftar
Allah loves those who call upon him and also Ramadan is a month of Mercy and Blessings.
Dua can be done at any time but we should do it precisely at Tahajjud time and before iftar as the probability of their acceptance is quite high at these times.
These are the resolution every Muslim should have for Ramadan.
Let’s pray that may Allah (Subhanwa Ta’ala) make this Ramadan easy for us and bless us to do more and more good deeds in the upcoming holy month. Ameen.
