Don’t Turn Hajj Into Politics: Imam e Ka’abah

MAKKAH: Imam e Ka’abah Shaikh Dr. Saleh Bin Abdullah Bin Humaid, advised pilgrims not to turn Hajj into politics either in Makkah or Madinah. Delivering the Friday sermon in the Grand Mosque of Makkah, He explained the policy of the Kingdom which prevents any political activity during Hajj so that there may not be any conflict of ideologies, Sects, School of Thoughts and System of Government.


Imam Shaikh Bin Humaid said that noble and high religious sanctity is attached with Hajj .The Hajj rituals desire complete devotion and sincerity of the purpose. He advised that political activities during Hajj rites will only lead to more conflicts and frictions in Ummah which is already ridden with so many political discords and differences.


He said that the Saudi government does every effort to serve Hajj and Umrah Pilgrims just to gain Allah’s pleasure. They seek and expect rewards only from Allah the Almighty. He also added that this  responsibility has been divinely entrusted to the Saudi Arab government by the Almighty and Saudi Arab government and its people are serving the guests of Allah sincerely and diligently.

Imam Shaikh Bin Humaid clarified that as a policy matter the Saudi government does not prevent any Muslim from  visiting the Grand Mosque in Makkah and Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, irrespective of his sectarian affiliation or political ideology.


But, He said that there must be only one slogan during Hajj. He stressed that “Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik” (O God Here I Am, O God Here I Am)  is the only slogan for this pious occasion which can unite Ummah .

Imam Shaikh Bin Humaid in his Friday sermon also explained that Saudi Arab government does not allow anyone to exploit religion for political purposes at holy sites. Such activities divert the attention of pilgrims from the main purpose of their arrival to these Holy Places, He added.
